Picture Connie tucked into a gallery wall of ornate gold frames, hanging above an antique dresser, or bringing a little warmth to a darker corner of your home. She has that collected, slightly old-fashioned feeling I love — like something you might have stumbled across in a beautifully cluttered antique shop, only a little stranger.

I wanted this one to play with all of those rich golden tones without losing the softness I’ve been leaning into lately. The butterfly almost disappears into the warm florals behind her before catching the light, while the darker background keeps all that gold and amber from becoming too sweet. The oversized ornate frame makes the whole thing feel wonderfully dramatic for such a small little world.

Connie is also one of my self-built shadowboxes. I constructed and assembled the depth behind the decorative frame myself rather than starting with a premade shadowbox, allowing the butterfly to sit dimensional inside a frame that otherwise never could have housed her.

She feels like a piece for someone whose home exists somewhere between romantic maximalism, an old-world gallery wall and a beautifully strange little antique collection.
