Liv Beetle Entomology Insect Ornate Frame Shadowbox Artwork

Picture Liv tucked into a dark gallery wall, hanging above an antique dresser, or surrounded by collected gold frames, botanical prints and little treasures that have slowly found their way into your home. She has the richness of something old and ornate, but the deep green and tiny flashes of celestial gold keep her from feeling too traditional.

I wanted the beetle to feel almost like a miniature portrait in this one. The tiny gold frame gives it its own little place of importance, sitting against layers of deep green foliage with golden stars scattered around it. The larger ornate frame brings everything together and gives the piece that slightly excessive, old-world feeling I love.

Liv is also another one of my completely self-built shadowboxes. I constructed and assembled the depth behind the decorative frame myself rather than using a premade shadowbox, which lets me take frames I love and turn them into dimensional pieces they were never originally intended to be.

She feels like a piece for someone whose home exists somewhere between an old botanical study, a dark conservatory and a beautifully collected gallery wall.

Created with a real preserved beetle, botanical imagery, ornate gold details, celestial accents, and a shadowbox constructed and assembled by me.
