A little curiosity, a little mystery and a garden full of possibilities! 🌿🦋

Introducing The Garden Arcana, a brand-new butterfly shadowbox workshop that brings together the beauty of preserved butterflies, delicate botanicals and the symbolism of tarot in a creative experience with a little unexpected twist.

And here’s where things get interesting! At the beginning of class, each participant will intuitively draw a tarot card from my deck. You won’t know which card you’re getting until you pull it! Your card will become part of your finished artwork and you’ll also receive a small informational card explaining its meaning and symbolism to take home.

No tarot knowledge required! This isn’t a tarot reading, but rather a fun way to introduce a little surprise and personal meaning into your creative process.

From there, we’ll be creating an 8×8 black shadowbox featuring a soft sage green velvet background and a real preserved Idea blanchardii (Blanchard's ghost) butterfly, known for its beautiful ivory wings with delicate dark markings.

You’ll arrange a circular botanical wreath around your tarot card and butterfly using an assortment of dried white florals, moss, greenery and other natural elements. We’ll explore different ways to layer, balance and arrange everything while leaving plenty of room for your own creativity.

• A real preserved Idea blanchardii (Blanchard's ghost) butterfly
• A black 8” × 8” shadowbox with light sage green velvet backing
• An intuitively drawn tarot card from my deck
• A small informational card explaining your tarot card’s meaning and symbolism
• Dried white florals, moss, greenery and other botanical decorative elements
• All necessary tools & adhesive

✨ Optional Personal Touch

Want to make your shadowbox a little more personal? You’re welcome to bring along small meaningful keepsakes, dried flowers, crystals or even your own preserved insect to incorporate into your design.

Completely optional! Everything needed to create your piece will already be provided.

While everyone will be working with similar materials, the surprise tarot card pull and your individual creative choices mean no two finished pieces will be quite alike.

This workshop is beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone who loves butterflies, botanical art, tarot or simply wants to try something different. Whether you’re coming with friends or joining us solo, you’ll leave with your own finished shadowbox that’s ready to display!
