What if the centerpiece of your next creation was something you didn’t get to choose, but instead something that found its way to you?

Wings of Fate brings together the beauty of preserved butterflies, botanical art and the symbolism of tarot in a workshop with a slightly different twist!

At the beginning of class, each participant will intuitively pull a tarot card from my deck. No peeking, no choosing based on the artwork and no knowing what you’re going to get beforehand! Whatever card you draw will become part of your shadowbox and serve as the inspiration behind your creation.

You’ll also receive a small informational card explaining the meaning and symbolism of your specific tarot card, giving you a little insight into what you’ve drawn and something meaningful to take home alongside your finished piece.

Whether you’re familiar with tarot or have never touched a deck before, there’s no experience or prior knowledge needed. It’s simply a fun way to introduce a little mystery, intuition and personal meaning into the creative process.

From there, we’ll bring everything together inside a black 8×8 shadowbox featuring a beautiful crushed lavender velvet background and a real preserved Asian Swallowtail butterfly. You’ll create a delicate circular arrangement of dried flowers, moss and botanicals around your tarot card and butterfly, experimenting with different colors, textures and placement to make the piece your own.

I’ll guide you through the arrangement and assembly process while leaving plenty of room for you to explore your own creativity.

✨ Materials include:

• A real preserved Asian Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio lowi)
• A black 8” × 8” shadowbox with crushed lavender velvet backing
• An intuitively drawn tarot card from my deck
• A small informational card explaining your tarot card’s meaning and symbolism
• Tools & adhesive
• A variety of dried florals, moss, greenery and other botanical decorative elements

✨ Optional Personal Touch

If you’d like to incorporate something a little more personal into your shadowbox, you’re welcome to bring small meaningful keepsakes, dried flowers, trinkets or even your own preserved insect.

Completely optional, of course! Everything you need to complete your piece will already be provided.

The fun part about this workshop is that no two creations will tell quite the same story. Between the different tarot cards drawn at the beginning of class and everyone’s individual choices in flowers, colors and arrangements, each finished piece will have its own personality.

This workshop is beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone who loves butterflies, botanical art, tarot or simply wants to try something a little different. Whether you come with friends or decide to join us solo, you’ll leave with a beautiful handmade piece that holds a little personal meaning.
